Sambir

Peter

It was built by people, who came on this place after the tatar hold up in 1241, by germans and poles. Besides ukrainians, of course...In 1788 the town's emblem became a deer with a pierced with an arrow neck. It was almost totally destroyed in 1939-41 years with soviet soldiers (the guerilla story of this land is theme for a separate book).
Today you can visit an ostrich farm here. It's easy to get there thanks for the pointers. Just a few kilometers further you can turn the left and visit an Old Sambir, which is a "gate" to Zakarpattya. Besides, it's famous for well-preserved jewish cemetery with so-called "maceva"'s(tombstones).
