Kyiv is known is one of the greenest cities of Europe. There are several botanical gardens. The Botanical Garden of the Ukrainian Academy of Science, which is also called the Central Botanical Garden, is the biggest and the richest of them. The garden was founded in 1936. Its area equals 130 hectares and contains over 13,000 kinds of plants from all the continents. There`s also a number of hothouses, conservatories, greenhouses and rosaries in the garden. The Central Botanical Garden and adjoining ancient Vidubitsky monastery, constructed between 1070 and 1077, create a corner of Kyiv, which is perfect for family rest or spending some time alone with nature and surrounding beauty.
