Children Railway
Kyiv children railway is located in the Syrez Park. The railway is a narrow-gauge line with real trains and stations, built in 1953. 9-15 years old children, supervised by experienced professionals, work there as machinists, train-drivers and conductors all through the summer. All year long children study the theory of railway functioning and improve their skills. Children railway line runs for 2,8 kilometers. There is also an additional line that passes through the forest in the middle of the park and serves for the trains' turns. The trains of the railway pass through houses, a hospital and a ravine. The route includes the 100 meters long bridge through the ravine, its height is 20 meters. In 2001 the railway was reconstructed and repaired and today each trip takes about 10 minutes. The season starts on May 2 and ends on the last Sunday of August.
