The museum of Mykhailo Bulgakov, the famous writer and the author of the immortal novel “Master and Margarita”, is situated in historical Andriyivsky Uzviz.
In the building at Andriyivsky Uzviz, 13 Bulgakov had lived with his parents until 1919 and later described it in his famous book "Belaya Gvardia", or "White Guard". As a result, the house in Podil became increadibly popular ad even legendary. The Memorial Museum was founded there in 1989 as a branch of the State Museum of Kyiv's History and opened to public on May 15, 1991.
The groundwork for the museum's collection was laid by the founder - Anatoly Konchakovsky - and his private collection. Many Mykhailo Bulgakov’s relatives and friends donated new authentic exhibits to the museum, which helped to recreate and preserve the atmosphere, where the genius writer created his best books.
