If you want to see the best collections of foreign art in Ukraine you should go to the Museum of Art (or the Museum of Western and Oriental Art) named after Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko. The museum was founded in 1919 on the basis of the private collection. Today the museum possesses approximately 25,000 artworks, with 2,000 of them exposed in the halls.
The museum's collection includes many unique fine art masterpieces, for example, by Diego Velasquez. There are also Egyptian statues and bronze sculptures, antic terracotta and glassware, Roman and Greek sculptures, Byzantine exhibits, ivory, church stained-glass, icons, fabrics, jewelry of Kyivan Rus etc.
