Museum of Cultural Heritage

The Museum, containing works by Ukrainian artists from abroad, was opened on May 29, 1999, in the restored 18th-century mansion on 40b Moskovska Street. The exposition is devoted to life stories and creative work of composers, poets, choir masters, writers, choreographers and singers who were born in Kyiv and then forced to leave for abroad. In the museum you can get acquainted with unique paintings of such well-known Ukrainian painters as L. Morosowa (USA), O. Bulavitsky (USA), M. Krychevsky (France), T. Messak and V. Savchak (Australia), V. Krychevsky and K. Krychevska-Rosandich (USA). In the museum one may learn about the life and creativity of such writers and poets as D. Humanna (USA), O. Hay-Holowko (Canada), H. Cherin (USA), B. Olexandriv (Canada), B. Kowalenko (Australia). The world-famous ballet-master and dancer S. Lifar and the pianist-virtuoso V. Horovits were also born in the great city of Kyiv.
Literary Memorial Museum of Mykhailo Bulgakov

The museum of Mykhailo Bulgakov, the famous writer and the author of the immortal novel “Master and Margarita”, is situated in historical Andriyivsky Uzviz. In the building at Andriyivsky Uzviz, 13 Bulgakov had lived with his parents until 1919 and later described it in his famous book "Belaya Gvardia", or "White Guard". As a result, the house in Podil became increadibly popular ad even legendary. The Memorial Museum was founded there in 1989 as a branch of the State Museum of Kyiv's History and opened to public on May 15, 1991. The groundwork for the museum's collection was laid by the founder - Anatoly Konchakovsky - and his private collection. Many Mykhailo Bulgakov’s relatives and friends donated new authentic exhibits to the museum, which helped to recreate and preserve the atmosphere, where the genius writer created his best books.
Kyiv Museum of Western and Oriental Art

If you want to see the best collections of foreign art in Ukraine you should go to the Museum of Art (or the Museum of Western and Oriental Art) named after Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko. The museum was founded in 1919 on the basis of the private collection. Today the museum possesses approximately 25,000 artworks, with 2,000 of them exposed in the halls. The museum's collection includes many unique fine art masterpieces, for example, by Diego Velasquez. There are also Egyptian statues and bronze sculptures, antic terracotta and glassware, Roman and Greek sculptures, Byzantine exhibits, ivory, church stained-glass, icons, fabrics, jewelry of Kyivan Rus etc. The museum in situated in the center of the city at Tereschenkovska Street, 15.

Kyiv Museum of Wax Figures

Before creation of Kyiv Museum of Wax Figures its founders familiarized with expositions of famous Madame Tussaud museum branches in Amsterdam, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. It appeared a formidable challenge to create a museum of that kind in Ukraine, as there were no experienced specialists in waxwork and decorative works at the time. As a result, it took the creators three years to arrange the primary collection of 20 figures and to open the museum on the 12th January of 2000. Nowadays the exposition contains over 60 figures and is constantly growing. Kyiv Museum of Wax Figures can bravely be called one of the best if compared with the European analogues.

ARTEast Gallery

ARTEast Art Gallery represents masterpieces of national art and is regarded by many as the best gallery of Ukraine. ARTEast is located at the old building on Reytarska Street, 13, where many outstanding and talented people gathered at different times. The gallery exclusively displays, sells and promotes works of classical, contemporary art, socialist realism and folk art. All exhibits in the gallery are created by well-established artists, members of the Ukrainian Union of Artists.
